Specializing in obsolete kit decals for
builders and collecters!
I'm
Wolfgang from Germany and I collect, build and restore old Revell
Authentic Kits which were produced from 1953 to 1960. Missing or
damaged decals in these old kits can be a big problem so I began
looking for a printer that could do waterproof colors,
including white, gold and silver, on waterslide decal paper
The ideal printer turned out to be an Alps MD-1000; with this I can
print all kinds of decals, working from a scan of an original sheet.
The original decals are usually yellowed
and often suffer from colors that
are out of registration. Have you tried to use an old decal? It
probably has broken into many small pices. It has happened to me
already a few times. This is very annoying.
It is almost impossible to produce
acceptable
replacement decals using bitmap files from Adobe Photoshop or similar
programs so I create completely new vector artwork using Corel
Draw. This means that the outlines of all images are precise and
sharp, rather than 'jaggy' bitmap images, and all the colors are in
perfect register.
You
can see a example of my work below
original
newly drawn
Since I only collect Revell kits, so far
those are the only replacement
decals available and more will be added as I complete the
artwork.
All decals shown are now available for
between $5 and $20 each, depending on size and complexity.
I print all decals with waterproof colors on extremly thin clear
"Tango Papa" (see Links) waterslide decal paper.
I will, however, do custom decals for other
manufacturers' kits at a somewhat higher price.
Please contact me for further details.
